Georgia’s Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili welcomed the inaugural deputy minister-level trilateral meeting between Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, held in Tbilisi on April 17, 2025. Speaking following the event, Minister Botchorishvili underscored the importance of this new diplomatic format for the South Caucasus.
“Today marked the inaugural deputy minister-level meeting among Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. This dialogue, hosted by Tbilisi, is of great significance,” she stated.
Highlighting the potential of the trilateral framework, Botchorishvili described it as a valuable platform for addressing key regional issues and strengthening cooperation among the three neighboring nations.
“A meeting was held with the participation of representatives from the Foreign Ministries of Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, which is a good opportunity to discuss issues concerning our region. Georgia’s goal is to maximize our contribution to peace and stability in our region. Naturally, fostering relationships with both neighbors, Azerbaijan and Armenia, is crucial in this format,” she said.
Botchorishvili emphasized the significance of the meeting as the first of its kind, noting the productive nature of the discussions: “We were able to engage in a working discussion on regionally significant topics. I hope that our collaboration will continue in this format, allowing us to continue discussions and work on issues important to all three countries in the future.”
The meeting is seen as a key step toward building trust, enhancing dialogue, and exploring new avenues of cooperation to ensure long-term peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus.
