
Within the framework of the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council, Georgia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Botchorishvili, met with Iceland’s Foreign Minister, Thórdís Kolbrún Gylfadóttir.
Minister Botchorishvili congratulated her counterpart on her appointment and wished her success in her new role.
The ministers discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation and collaboration within international organizations. Minister Botchorishvili expressed gratitude for Iceland’s steadfast support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
They also addressed regional security challenges and highlighted the historic visit of Iceland’s President to Georgia in 2024, which included an Icelandic business delegation traveling to Tbilisi.
Particular attention was given to the forthcoming agreement between Georgia and Iceland on aviation sector cooperation, which is set to be signed soon.
Additionally, the conversation covered the two countries’ relations with the European Union, as well as ongoing developments in Georgia.
Both ministers expressed their commitment to continued communication and further strengthening ties between the two nations.
