At a joint press conference with OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili emphasized that the visit reaffirms strong support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and highlights the importance of Georgia’s occupation on the OSCE agenda.
“In today’s complex geopolitical context, cooperation within the OSCE framework is especially important for Georgia,” she said, adding that Valtonen's upcoming visit to the occupation line would provide a firsthand view of the ongoing threats.
Botchorishvili stressed that the occupation of Georgian regions has no justification and carries serious consequences for both national and regional security, as well as for people living under occupation. She called for adherence to international law and the pursuit of peace.
She also welcomed the European Court of Human Rights' decision requiring Russia to pay over €253 million to Georgia for human rights violations, calling it a significant step in the peaceful struggle for justice.
The meeting also covered the Geneva International Discussions, the need to implement the 2008 ceasefire agreement, and the return of displaced persons. Botchorishvili reaffirmed Georgia’s commitment to peace and its role as a regional stabilizer, while emphasizing the value of continued cooperation with the EU and OSCE.
She concluded by thanking Valtonen and expressing hope for future bilateral engagement between Georgia and Finland.
