On December 6 and 9, the Georgian feature film A Big Break will be screened in Tbilisi, at the Amirani cinema. The screening will be organized within the Tbilisi Film Festival. According to the cinema, all tickets for both screenings are sold out.
A Big Break is the debut full-length feature film of the Georgian screenwriter and director Davit Pirtskhalava, whose world premiere was successfully held on September 8-18 at the Toronto International Film Festival. The first public screening of the film at the Scotiabank Theater Cinema was attended by Georgians living in Canada along with the international community.
To be informed, the film was made by the production company Millimeter Film. The production is supported by the Georgian National Film Center.
A director and screenwriter is Davit Pirtskhalava; Producers are - Millimeter Film | Suliko Tsulukidze, Tiko Nadirashvili, Tedo Dolidze; Operator - Shalva Sokurashvili; Stage Artists are - Berdia Arabuli, Guram Navrozashvili; Costume Designers - Ketevan Gunia, Tatia Modebadze.
The executive producers of the film are Tedo Dolidze and Davit Ujmajuridze.
Cast: Shako Mirianashvili, Giorgi Sharvashidze, Sandro Kalandadze, Gaga Shishinashvili, Davit Chitaia, Goga Kobalia, Bidzina Nizharadze, Giorgi Mazavrishvili, Mariam Pirtskhalava, Gigi Rekhviashvili, Zviad Pirtskhalava.
As for the nomination for the Oscar, Davit Pirtskhalava's A Big Break was selected as a candidate for the Oscar Award from Georgia in September. The decision was made by a 12-person jury.
On August 22, the Georgian National Film Center started the selection procedure of the Georgian film candidate for the 2023 International Feature Film nomination of the American Film Academy. Georgian cinematographers could apply until September 9.
