With the support of the National Wine Agency, five Georgian family wineries participated in the prestigious RAW Wine Tokyo exhibition, held in Japan’s capital. The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia reported that the event offered Japanese wine professionals and consumers the chance to sample wines from Andria's Wine, Artana Wines, Iora, Manavi Wines, and Gabrieli Wines.
Visitors also had the opportunity to learn about Georgia’s ancient winemaking traditions, including the unique Qvevri method, a hallmark of the country’s wine culture.
RAW Wine, also known as The Artisan Wine Fair, is a leading global event dedicated to natural, organic, and biodynamic wines. It is curated by renowned French wine expert Isabelle Legeron, Master of Wine.
In addition to the National Wine Agency, the Georgian Embassy in Japan also supported the participating winemakers, contributing to the promotion of Georgian wine in one of its key strategic export markets.
Japan has seen a steady rise in Georgian wine imports since the first major promotional event in 2014. Georgian producers have regularly attended international exhibitions such as Foodex Japan and Wine and Gourmet Japan, while wine tastings, presentations, and professional tours have been organized across Japan and Georgia. Notably, wine exports to Japan reached nearly 71,000 liters in the first four months of this year—an increase of 21% compared to the same period in 2024.
