The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia hosted an official meeting of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program in Tbilisi.
The meeting dedicated to the development of financial technologies (Fintech) in the region was opened with a speech by Levan Davitashvili, speaking about the importance of financial technologies in the process of creating and developing modern economic trends of the CAREC countries.
The official meeting will last for two days, February 21-22. In addition to the representatives of the countries of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Program, the heads of the National Bank of Georgia, the Asian Development Bank and other financial and banking sector officials are participating in it.
As the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili noted, today's financial technologies, innovations and modern applications significantly simplify financial relations between partner countries and economies. as well as initiatives that are real platforms for providing real-time international payments between partners. Therefore, they should be used as instruments of real economic growth.
"The government of Georgia is taking several measures to stay on this transformational path. Our government emphasized the importance of knowledge-based, innovation and private sector-driven economic development and started building an innovation ecosystem. Since 2014, we have been promoting the development of innovations, modern technologies, supporting innovative startups and their competitive growth. We also promote cooperation between the science and business representatives", Levan Davitashvili noted.
Levan Davitashvili informed the participants of the event about the activities of the Innovation and Technology Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, which, in addition to the development of the IT sector in general, provides access to financial programs among them. He also talked about the activity of the financial sector of Georgia in this regard.
