
The Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili met with the new Israeli Ambassador-designate to Georgia, Hadas Meitzad.
The Deputy Economy Minister Genadi Arveladze and the Head of Trade Development and International Economic Relations Department Givi Zedelashvili also attended the meeting.
Partnership relations between Georgia and Israel were discussed, priority directions and further issues were outlined at the introductory meeting. The Deputy Prime Minister congratulated the Ambassador on the successful holding of parliamentary elections in Israel and expressed hope that after the formation of the new Israeli government, bilateral cooperation would be even more fruitful.
Centuries-old ties between the two countries and future priorities were emphasized. It was said that in 2022, although the bilateral trade turnover increased, the potential was great on both sides. It was noted that in order to develop and deepen the bilateral trade between Georgia and Israel and to establish Georgian products in the Israeli market, a study of the feasibility of signing an agreement on free trade between the two countries had already been conducted.
At the meeting, attention also focused on cooperation in the direction of transport, energy, tourism and civil aviation.
