The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili met with the Chairman of the Lower House of the Irish Parliament Sean O’Farrell. During the meeting, it was noted that sectoral cooperation, including in the tourism sector, between Georgia and Ireland had increased significantly in the past years. In addition, it was emphasized that trade and economic cooperation between the two countries had intensified in recent years, which was facilitated by the establishment of the Georgia-Ireland Business Council.
According to Levan Davitashvili, the influx of investments from Ireland and the operation of Irish businesses in Georgia are appreciated by the Georgian side. It should be noted that in 2022, investments from Ireland in Georgia increased and exceeded $120 million.
As Sean O’Farrell pointed out, the purpose of the visit to Georgia is to strengthen the economic relations between the two countries. The parties also reviewed the results that Georgia and Ireland had achieved as a result of close cooperation over the years.
The conversation at the meeting also touched on the current events in Georgia and the region, and it was noted that both sides are ready to actively cooperate in various sectors in the future.
