
Levan Davitashvili, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and the Azerbaijani top officials discussed the issues of the Georgian-Azerbaijani strategic cooperation and historic ties.
“We also talked about the progress of Georgia's European integration and it is very important, including for Azerbaijan, to have access to a very large European market through Georgia,” - Levan Davitashvili said during the assessment of the meetings held within the frames of his visit to Baku.
According to the Minister, close ties and relations between the two countries are very important, including in attracting investments.
The sides also discussed cooperation in new areas including digital transformation, cooperation in the tourism sector, and investment in tourism infrastructure, adding the implementation of joint tourism projects and presentation of the region internationally on the world map were also reviewed. Levan Davitashvili called Azerbaijan a strategic and one of the main economic partners of Georgia with which the country implemented many projects of international importance.
The Minister stressed that “all this is very important for Georgia and Azerbaijan to benefit from their economic potential and promote economic growth in both countries.
Levan Davitashvili held meetings with Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan, other officials of the country, and representatives of Azerbaijani gas distribution company SOCAR.
The Georgian Economy Minister is paying a two-day official visit as part of the delegation that also includes the Deputy Economy Ministers Guram Guramishvili and Romeo Mikautadze, the Adviser to the Prime Minister of Georgia Ioseb Tkemaladze, the General Director of JSC Georgian Railway Davit Peradze and the General Director of Oil and Gas Corporation Giorgi Bakhtadze.
