
The Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Gergia Levan Davitashvili met with the co-founder and General Director of Wizz Air, József Váradi, who is paying a working visit to Georgia. The Deputy Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili, the General Director of the United Airports of Georgia Tamar Archuadze and the Hungarian Ambassador to Georgia Anna Maria Sikó participated in the meeting.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the current situation in the civil aviation market of Georgia, praised the process of its restoration, which had a positive effect on the development of tourism in the country, and noted that the number of direct flights and destinations with the EU countries was a priority direction of the Georgian government.
At the meeting, the activity of the airline in Georgia was positively evaluated and it was noted that “this year it has been 10 years since Wizz Air airlines made its first flight to Georgia”. According to the representatives of the airline, after a two-year pause caused by the Covid-pandemic, Wizz Air is actively continuing to recover, especially in priority markets, including the Georgian one. It was said that Wizz Air is actively working to increase the frequency of flights from Georgia and add routes to new directions.
