The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Genadi Arveladze, as the head of the Georgian delegation, participated in the 2nd meeting of the trade committee within the framework of the strategic agreement between Georgia and the United Kingdom, which was held in London.
"The United Kingdom is an important strategic economic partner of Georgia. Therefore, deepening cooperation with this country through various platforms is a high priority. We discussed the issue of additional promotion of bilateral trade and I think we will be able to make progress in this regard. We also see the possibility of making more investments from Britain in Georgia" - the Deputy Minister said.
At the meeting, the parties exchanged information on the challenges in bilateral trade and the activities carried out by sub-committees within the framework of the agreement.
"We also discussed the issues related to the admission of animal products to the British market and the mutual recognition of authorized economic operators, which will help encourage trade between countries, simplify the admission of Georgian exporters and export products to the British market," - Genadi Arveladze noted.
As the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia reports, it should be noted that the strategic agreement covers a wide range of cooperation between the two countries and creates a legal framework for the strategic partnership, as well as ensures the promotion of the free trade regime between Georgia and the United Kingdom. Within the framework of the agreement, it is possible to export some Georgian products of animal origin, including honey, to Britain as well as to the European Union.
