
“The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Mariam Kvrivishvili and Japanese Ambassador to Georgia, Imamura Akira took part in the official handover ceremony of energy-efficient cars purchased with a grant from the Japanese government, which was held at the Tbilisi International Airport,” - the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia reported.
Reportedly, solar panels were installed near the airport in 2016 as part of the mentioned grant project, which concerns the introduction of clean energy through the solar electricity generation system. The second part of the grant was used for the purchase of energy-efficient cars - 2 units will be given to the United Airports of Georgia, one each - to the Central Office of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and Ilia State University.
The Deputy Minister thanked the Japanese government and people for supporting important projects, including the adoption of green energy in the aviation industry. According to her, the government is carrying out sustainable development of the industry, which helps bring the aviation industry closer to European standards.
According to Imamura Akira, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) implemented the mentioned project in 2016.
The Deputy Ambassador of Japan Suzuki Toshiyuki, Director of the United Airports of Georgia Irakli Karkashadze, TAV-Georgia Director Tea Zakaradze, as well as representatives of JICA, Toyota Caucasus, Crown Agents For Oversea Governments and Administrations and Ilia State University also participated in the event.
