“Implementation of CAREC – 2030 strategy goals; regional cooperation in trade, tourism, agriculture, finance and other sectors; development of transport and energy corridors - this is a small list of the issues that high-ranking representatives of the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation Program (CAREC) will discuss at the meeting in Tbilisi scheduled for June 13-14,” - the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia stated.
Reportedly, the session is chaired by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Genadi Arveladze.
"At the CAREC meeting, we will have the opportunity to take the initiative and raise issues of regional cooperation in trade, transport corridor, energy security, tourism and other areas for discussion. We are one of the initiating countries to form a free trade agreement between the CAREC member countries. We also support the development of joint projects and transport corridors in the direction of energy, as well as the establishment of a joint management system of customs points, which will promote trade between countries," - the Deputy Minister said in his welcoming speech.
"The CAREC region has a great opportunity to become a leader in the global transition to a green economy," said Xiaohong Yang, Deputy Director General of the Central and West Asia Department of the Asian Development Bank. According to her, the regional cooperation is critically important for the region to transition to a green economy. Xiaohong Yang thanked Genadi Arveladze for hosting the CAREC events in Georgia in 2023 at a high level.
