
Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, spoke about the development and achievements of the Georgian wine tourism at the UN World Tourism Organization's Global Conference on Wine Tourism held in Alba, Italy.
The conference, which brought together the government and business delegations of the leading wine-growing countries of Europe, was held for the 6th time and was dedicated to innovations in the further development of wine tourism, as well as the emphasis was placed on the sustainable development of tourism in this direction, using digital and social technologies to promote the advantages of wine tourism and winemaking aspects.
"Participation in such a high-level event is of great importance for our country. We are given the opportunity to inform representatives of the international wine and tourism industry about the development and achievements of the Georgian wine, tourism and wine tourism, as well as to meet international partners and discuss future cooperation with them. I am glad that the wine tourism industry of Georgia is positively evaluated at the global level, and it is an example for many countries of how the winemaking and tourism sectors should cooperate in order to achieve high results like those of Georgia," - Mariam Kvrivishvili stated after her speech at the conference.
According to the Deputy Minister, the Georgian delegation held important meetings with international partners, as well as with representatives of other countries, during which joint action plans were drawn up, which should contribute to the rapid recovery and further strengthening of tourism in Georgia.
The Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization Zurab Pololikashvili opened the conference with a speech. The representatives of Italy, Portugal, Greece, Moldova, San Marino, Bulgaria and Serbia, the leading wine tourism countries worldwide, also participated in the conference.
