Genadi Arveladze, Georgia's Deputy Economy Minister, met with Florian Frauscher, Director General at Austria's Ministry of Economy and Labour, to discuss projects aimed at strengthening Georgia's strategic position in the region. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade, energy, tourism, and transport.
Arveladze highlighted key projects, such as the Black Sea submarine cable and a digital cable, which will bolster Georgia’s role as a regional hub. He also praised Austria’s contributions to economic reforms and experience sharing.
The two discussed the upcoming Intergovernmental Economic Commission meeting in October and plans for a business forum. Austrian investors showed growing interest in Georgia, with active projects in logistics, energy, food production, and tourism.
Frauscher emphasized potential collaboration in infrastructure and green energy, with a visit to Georgia planned later this year to strengthen ties. Tourism cooperation was also noted, with a significant rise in Austrian visitors to Georgia, aided by new flights and Austrian Airlines’ entry into the market.
Arveladze thanked Austria for its support of Georgia's sovereignty and European integration efforts and called for continued collaboration.
