
“The Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Nino Tandilashvili met with representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB),” - the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia reports.
The current projects and directions of future cooperation with the ADB were discussed at the meeting.
The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of the Asian Development Bank's support in the direction of agriculture, including irrigation and water resources management, which would play an important role in mitigating climate change.
"With the financial support of the Asian Development Bank, a new irrigation project will be implemented in Georgia. The project will significantly contribute to the development of both the agricultural sector and adjacent sectors. We are ready to actively cooperate with all donors, all those organizations that will support us in fulfilling the obligations assumed by the association agreement with the European Union and in overcoming the challenges in the agricultural and environmental direction across the country", said Nino Tandilashvili.
At the meeting, the discussion touched upon the Asian Development Bank's priority investment directions (food security, agricultural infrastructure, air quality, climate change, etc.,) and project financing mechanisms. It was noted that all projects implemented with the ADB's financial support will include components related to climate change.
The parties agreed that they will further discuss the details of the new project and specific directions of future cooperation.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the relevant services of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture and the Asian Development Bank.
