The Georgian Embassy in Israel has announced that Georgian citizens currently in Israel have the option to leave the country through neighboring Jordan or Egypt. Below are the available routes and travel details:
Exit via Jordan
Georgian citizens can leave Israel through either of the following border crossings:
-
Yitzhak Rabin Crossing (operates daily from 08:00 to 20:00)
-
Jordan River Crossing (open from 09:00 to 16:00)
Both crossings are accessible by taxi, bus, or train. Travelers are required to pay an exit fee of 122 shekels. A Jordanian visa, costing approximately $70, can be obtained at the border.
Once across, transportation to Amman is available via taxi, bus, or minibus. Travel time from the Jordan River Crossing is approximately 2 hours, and from the Yitzhak Rabin Crossing about 4 hours. From Amman, flights to Georgia or via third countries are available.
Important Note: Jordanian airspace may temporarily close during military activity, potentially causing delays and long wait times at the border.
Exit via Egypt
Georgian citizens may also exit Israel through the Taba border crossing near Eilat, which is open 24/7. The crossing is reachable by car, bus, or train.
At the border, travelers must obtain a visa ($25) and a permit to travel within Egypt ($21). From Taba, taxis and minibuses are available to Sharm el-Sheikh, a trip of around 2.5 hours. From there, direct flights to Georgia are available.
Caution: Travelers should be prepared for lengthy lines and strict questioning by Israeli border officials and security personnel.
Embassy Advisory
The Embassy urges all citizens to plan ahead, stay updated on border operating hours, and anticipate possible delays due to security situations or crowding.
