
Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, met with Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat during his visit to Georgia, focusing on strengthening bilateral trade and economic ties.
The two ministers discussed priority areas for cooperation, including free trade, civil aviation, tourism, and other key sectors. Kvrivishvili noted the importance of setting new joint initiatives to support economic development and facilitate greater engagement between private sector actors in both countries.
“We set new plans and joint programs that will contribute to economic growth and encourage collaboration between businesses in Georgia and Turkiye,” she stated.
The ministers praised ongoing collaboration in investment and tourism, with Kvrivishvili highlighting that Turkiye is Georgia’s third-largest investor, supporting over 2,700 active businesses. She also noted Turkiye’s role as the second-largest source of visitors to Georgia, with Turkish airlines operating 101 flights weekly from Georgian airports.
According to the Ministry of Economy, both sides agreed to intensify efforts to enhance cooperation between their respective business communities.
Kvrivishvili also reminded that the next meeting of the Georgia–Turkiye Intergovernmental Economic Commission is scheduled for July 31, which she will chair. Additionally, she extended an invitation to Minister Bolat to participate in the upcoming Silk Road Forum, set for October 22–23 in Tbilisi.
