Georgian Airways has launched its first-ever direct flight from Tbilisi to Rome, marking a new air link between the capitals of Georgia and Italy. The inaugural flight took off from Tbilisi International Airport on Saturday.
According to the Union of Georgian Airports, the new route will operate twice a week—on Wednesdays and Saturdays—throughout the summer navigation season.
A special event was held to celebrate the occasion, attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili, Italian Ambassador to Georgia Massimiliano D’Antuono, and other key aviation and airport officials, including Levan Moseshvili, General Director of the Union of Georgian Airports.
“It is most important that our capitals will be linked by direct air from today. For that, I would like to thank the air company Georgian Airways and wish it successful flights,” Moseshvili said.
The launch coincided with International Pilots’ Day, observed on April 26, and Georgian Airways’ management took the opportunity to congratulate crew members and guests.
In addition to Rome, Georgian Airways currently offers direct flights to Milan and Forli, further strengthening air connectivity between Georgia and Italy.
