
The Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, called his attendance at India’s autumn parliamentary session significant, marking the first high-level Georgian visit to India. He emphasized the goal of boosting bilateral and inter-parliamentary relations and expressed hope that India’s parliamentary speaker would visit Georgia.
Highlighting India as Georgia’s important trading partner and its potential role in the Middle Corridor, Papuashvili noted discussions on parliamentary cooperation, legislative frameworks, and joint committee meetings.
During a meeting with India’s Minister of External Affairs, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations, including the appointment of India’s first resident ambassador to Georgia. They also discussed visa liberalization, a potential free trade agreement, and investment opportunities in Georgia and the region.
Papuashvili described the meetings as friendly and constructive, reflecting growing momentum in Georgia–India relations.
