Georgia started to import electricity, while reducing reduces its exports to a minimum quantity. As the Chairman of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) Davit Narmania stated, Georgia has started electricity import since September. According to Narmania, Georgia imports electricity from Azerbaijan, and last month it also exported a small volume of electricity to Armenia.
"Based on the data of the state electricity system of Georgia, I will tell you that a small volume of electricity was exported only to Armenia in September. There were no exports to other countries in September, as by this time the electricity consumption in our system increases and its generation decreases due to the decrease in the output of the hydroelectric plants. That is why there is no export electricity from this period," said Narmania.
According to the Chairman of the GNERC, the electricity generation in September was 191,340 kWh. Among them, the output of small HPPs was 52,670 kWh. As for the export volume to Armenia in September, it amounted to 3 113 kWh.
