“Uzbekistan is hosting the UNESCO General Conference, bringing together member states to discuss cooperation in areas such as cultural heritage, education, and other key global issues,” stated Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili.
Botchorishvili emphasized that Georgia’s rich cultural legacy deserves to be properly represented on the international stage.
“The UNESCO Conference serves as an important platform for Georgia, given that several elements of our cultural heritage are recognized by UNESCO,” she said. “Our heritage is a national asset that must be presented in the best possible way. For the first time, the UNESCO General Conference is being held outside its headquarters — and Samarkand provides an excellent opportunity for us to share detailed information about Georgia’s cultural treasures with the international and Uzbekistani communities.”
As part of the conference, Georgian Culture Days will be organized, showcasing elements of Georgia’s intangible cultural heritage, including traditional polyphonic singing, winemaking, and other key aspects of Georgian culture.
According to the Minister, the Georgian corner at the conference will be arranged in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and the National Wine Agency.
Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili is representing Georgia at the 43rd UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. During the event, she will deliver an address to the conference and hold meetings with fellow ministers and UNESCO officials to discuss ongoing cooperation initiatives.
