Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili took part in the second session of the Georgia–Serbia Joint Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation, held in Belgrade. The meeting was co-chaired by Kvrivishvili and Serbia’s Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade, Jagoda Lazarević.
Kvrivishvili noted that cooperation between Georgia and Serbia has expanded significantly in recent years, a development reflected in positive bilateral economic indicators.
She highlighted close collaboration in the transport sector, particularly in civil aviation, which plays a key role in strengthening tourism and economic relations. The introduction of direct flights between the two countries was described as a major milestone, with Air Serbia currently operating three weekly flights on the Belgrade–Tbilisi–Belgrade route.
According to the Minister, the launch of direct flights led to a notable increase in visitors from Serbia to Georgia in the third quarter of 2025. She also pointed out that the number of Serbian tourists visiting Georgia rose by more than 20 percent in the first quarter of this year.
Kvrivishvili emphasized that Serbia represents an attractive and growing tourism market for Georgia and stressed the importance of continuing cooperation in this field. She added that the intergovernmental tourism agreement and joint initiatives already in place provide a strong foundation for further expanding bilateral ties.
