
The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that remittance inflows reached $315.5 million in June 2025, marking a 12.2% increase - or $34.4 million - compared to the same month last year.
For the first half of 2025, total remittances into Georgia amounted to $1.715 billion, according to central bank data.
The European Union remained the largest source of money transfers, contributing $140.2 million in June—44.4% of total inflows—and posting a strong annual growth rate of 17.3%. Within the EU, Italy, Germany, and Greece were the leading countries sending funds to Georgia.
The United States also saw a notable increase in remittance activity, with transfers jumping 23% year-on-year to $58.7 million. In contrast, remittances from Russia continued to decline, falling by 15.9% compared to June 2024, totaling $41.1 million.
Outbound transfers from Georgia rose as well, reaching $34.3 million (93.6 million lari) in June 2025—a 21.8% increase over the $28.1 million sent abroad in the same month last year.
