
Remittance inflows to Georgia reached $321.5 million in August 2025, marking a 10.7% increase (or $31 million) compared to August 2024, according to data from the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).
From January to August 2025, total remittances amounted to $2.37 billion, with EU countries contributing the largest share — 44.9% of August’s total inflows, or $144.3 million, representing an 11.7% year-on-year growth. The top EU sources remained Italy, Germany, and Greece.
The United States also showed significant growth in remittances, with transfers rising 16.8% year-on-year in August to $59.3 million.
In contrast, remittances from Russia continued to decline, dropping 2.9% compared to August 2024, down to $41.3 million.
Meanwhile, outbound transfers from Georgia also grew. Georgian residents sent $35.7 million (₾96.4 million) abroad in August 2025 — a 7.8% increase compared to the same month last year.
