
In May 2025, Georgia received $317.4 million in remittances—a year-on-year increase of 11.6% or $33.1 million—according to the latest data released by the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).
From January to May 2025, total remittance inflows reached $1.4 billion.
The NBG report indicates that the largest share of remittances—44.1% or $140.1 million—originated from European Union countries. Italy, Germany, and Greece were the top contributors within the EU, with combined annual growth of 16.0%.
Remittances from the United States also showed strong growth, rising by 25.2% compared to May 2024 and reaching $59.1 million.
In contrast, transfers from the Russian Federation dropped by 9.2% year-on-year, amounting to $43.7 million in May.
Outflows from Georgia also increased. A total of $35.2 million (approximately 96.5 million GEL) was sent abroad in May 2025, marking a 16.8% rise from the $30.1 million recorded in May 2024.
