In January 2023, re-exports from Georgia to the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union increased 4 times, by approximately 328.1%. In particular, according to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), if in January 2022, products worth $27.738 million were exported to 5 EEU countries, this year in January this indicator amounted to 118.763 million US dollars.
To be informed, the Eurasian Economic Union unites Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Based on the GEOSTAT data, the largest - 1,271.4% increase was recorded in Kyrgyzstan, where Georgia’s re-export revenue this year amounted to 16,389 million US dollars, compared to 1,195 million US dollars (a 13-fold increase) in the same period of the previous year.
According to the same data, products worth $30.457 million were re-exported to Kazakhstan in January this year, compared to $3.169 million (an increase of 861%, almost 9.5 times) in the same period of the previous year.
Kazakhstan is followed by Armenia with a record increase in re-exports. Namely, in January 2023, products worth $58.946 million passed through Georgia to Armenia, in January 2022 - $12.546 million, (with a 369.8% decrease).
The following country is Russia, where in the first month of this year, goods worth $ 11.045 million, passed through Georgia, in the same period of 2022 - $ 7.686 million (with a 43.7% increase).
Re-export rate from Georgia to Belarus has decreased, where in January 2023, products worth $1.926 million were exported, in the same period of 2022 – worth $ 3.142 million (with a 38.7% decrease).
