The Migration Department of Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs expelled 91 foreign nationals from various countries during November and December, according to a statement released.
The deported individuals included citizens of Iran, Algeria, India, Morocco, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Pakistan, Nigeria, Iraq, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkmenistan, and other nations. The Department indicated that some individuals departed voluntarily, while others were forcibly removed as part of the measures implemented by the agency.
Among those deported were 25 individuals involved in protest rallies in Tbilisi during November and December. These individuals had been subjected to administrative penalties by the court, with 10 having already left the country.
The Department further reported that a total of 430 foreign nationals were expelled from Georgia in 2024, reflecting a 126% increase compared to the previous year.
The Migration Department is tasked with addressing illegal migration within the country. Its primary responsibilities include identifying foreign nationals residing in Georgia without legal authorization and facilitating their removal in accordance with the law.
