Vakhtang Tsintsadze, the Deputy Minister of Economy of Georgia, reported that 2024 had witnessed "record" levels in both exports and imports, resulting in similarly high external trade turnover figures.
Tsintsadze expressed confidence that the positive trends in external trade would likely persist in the coming months, which would significantly contribute to the country’s economic growth rate.
The Deputy Minister highlighted that the Government was implementing several initiatives aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and promoting local production.
He further noted that these efforts were expected to sustain robust economic activity, thereby improving the overall economic environment and raising the income levels of the population in the coming years.
According to the National Statistics Office, Georgia’s external trade turnover in 2024 reached $23.42 billion, marking an 8% increase compared to the previous year. Exports rose by 7.8% to $6.56 billion, while imports grew by 8.1%, totaling $16.86 billion.
