The Ministry of Health has confirmed that Georgia’s flu season is currently stable, with vaccination campaigns actively underway.
According to the ministry, preparations for the season are in full swing. “At present, the A/H3N2 virus is the dominant strain circulating across the country. Other seasonal respiratory viruses, including rhinoviruses, parainfluenza, and respiratory syncytial virus, have also been identified. Most cases are being managed at home by family doctors,” the statement said.
The four-component seasonal flu vaccine, produced in France and procured by the Ministry of Health, is widely available and offered free of charge. So far, approximately 150,000 people have been immunized. Vaccination is recommended for all age groups, with priority given to high-risk individuals such as pregnant women, the elderly, children aged six months and older, and people with weakened immune systems or chronic conditions.
In addition to vaccination, the ministry emphasizes preventive measures, including frequent handwashing, proper ventilation of indoor spaces, avoiding public gatherings when symptomatic, and steering clear of crowded areas.
“The current epidemiological situation is fully under control. Our healthcare system is prepared to provide timely and high-quality services to the population throughout the flu season,” the ministry added.
