
Mikheil Sarjveladze, Georgia’s Minister of IDPs, Labour, Health, and Social Affairs, is representing the country at the 78th World Health Assembly, taking place from May 19 to 27 in Geneva, Switzerland. The Assembly is convened under the theme “One World for Health.”
In his opening remarks, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus commended Georgia’s notable progress in tobacco control and its successful elimination of malaria. In a formal recognition of this public health milestone, Minister Sarjveladze was presented with a certificate declaring Georgia officially Malaria-free.
During the Assembly, Minister Sarjveladze is also expected to hold bilateral meetings aimed at enhancing international cooperation in the health sector.
Also attending the event was Revaz Lominadze, Georgia’s newly appointed Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva, reinforcing Georgia’s active engagement in global health initiatives.
