Georgian Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze took part in the Trans Fat Elimination Conference, organized by the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO).
According to the Ministry, the event served both to review progress made so far and to outline future steps in the country’s ongoing effort to remove industrial trans fats from the food supply.
Sarjveladze stated that Georgia is prepared to further strengthen public health policies aimed at eliminating trans fats, noting that adopting international best practices will help enhance the effectiveness of national measures. He highlighted that the reforms already implemented have significantly improved population health.
The conference brought together Deputy Environment Protection and Agriculture Minister Lasha Avaliani, representatives from WHO Georgia, the WHO European Regional Office, the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, and members of the academic community.
