As part of the World Justice Project’s Rule of Law Survey, the European Commission has published the Corruption Perceptions Index, where Georgia scored 67% and ranked 35th globally—placing it among the top 20 least corrupt countries in Europe.
Georgia outperforms all EU candidate countries and 14 EU and NATO member states, including Italy, Greece, Hungary, and Bulgaria.
Denmark, Norway, and Sweden lead as Europe’s least corrupt nations, while Ukraine, Albania, and Moldova were identified as the most corrupt. Russia ranked fifth after Serbia.
The index evaluates the absence of corruption across three main areas: bribery, undue influence from public or private interests, and misappropriation of public funds. It assesses corruption within the executive, judiciary, military, police, and legislative branches.
The study was conducted by the U.S.-based World Justice Project.
