Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Vakhtang Tsintsadze explained that the Fraser Institute’s “Economic Freedom of the World” ranking evaluates both macroeconomic indicators, such as inflation levels, exchange rate stability, and market access, and institutional factors, including bureaucracy, judicial independence, and property rights protection.
The deputy minister highlighted that Georgia outperforms 17 EU countries in this ranking and is the undisputed leader among EU candidate nations.
“The Georgian government remains committed to implementing reforms to improve our position in international rankings, strengthen government institutions, and maintain sound economic fundamentals,” Tsintsadze stated.
In 2025, Georgia advanced eight places in the Fraser Institute’s “Economic Freedom in the World” ranking, ranking 25th out of 165 countries with a score of 7.69. Not only did Georgia improve its position, but its overall score also increased.
