Extensive preparations are underway as Georgia readies to welcome more than 2,300 high-level delegates from 73 countries to the upcoming Tbilisi Silk Road Forum, according to Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili. The Minister shared the update after inspecting event venues and reviewing final arrangements.
Scheduled for October 22–23, the forum is held biennially under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Georgia. The opening ceremony will take place at the historic Tbilisi Opera House, followed by seven thematic panel discussions featuring top political leaders and business executives from across the region.
Minister Kvrivishvili emphasized the forum’s strategic importance for Georgia, noting that it presents a vital opportunity to showcase major infrastructure projects on the global stage. These include the Anaklia Deepwater Port, the proposed new Tbilisi International Airport, ongoing highway development, and other initiatives designed to enhance Georgia’s role in the Middle Corridor and boost the national economy.
A key highlight of the event will be the participation of Mohamed Ali Alabbar, founder of UAE-based Emaar Properties. His company, Eagle Hills, is spearheading investment projects in Georgia worth $6.5 billion. Alabbar will also give a personal interview during the forum, offering deeper insights into these developments.
Kvrivishvili underscored the forum’s growing international significance over the past decade, describing it as a premier platform for political and economic dialogue among nations.
“At the same time, the forum is a major opportunity for Georgia to strengthen its international positioning and to present — with dignity — the significant achievements that deliver results year after year,” she stated.
