To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Georgian national currency, the lari, the Stamp Commission under the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, in partnership with the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), has issued a commemorative stamp produced by Georgian Post.
The stamp features elements from lari banknotes and symbolizes three decades of the currency’s development.
"A postage stamp is more than just a collectible — it represents milestones in a nation’s history," said Guram Guramishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy, at the launch of the stamp titled "Georgian Money – National Currency – 30 Years."
The event was held at the Ilia Chavchavadze National Library of Georgia, the former location of Georgia’s first central bank in 1920–1921. Natia Turnava, President of the NBG, and Giorgi Eradze, Director General of Georgian Post, also gave speeches. Georgian Post presented the first copy of the stamp to the National Bank.
The stamp, designed by Baadur Koblianidze, will enter circulation in September 2025, with 30,000 copies available at Georgian Post offices nationwide.
