
Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili met with World Trade Organization (WTO) Secretary-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on the sidelines of the UN High-Level Meeting, in recognition of the 25th anniversary of Georgia’s membership in the WTO.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting highlighted the strong and productive partnership between Georgia and the WTO. Secretary-General Okonjo-Iweala commended Georgia’s robust economic growth and optimistic outlook, noting the country’s ability to maintain stable and resilient development in the face of global challenges.
Discussions also focused on Georgia’s increasing importance in international trade, especially due to its strategic transit role and growing contribution to the development of the Middle Corridor.
Both sides acknowledged Georgia’s efforts to expand trade opportunities and improve its investment and business environment. Minister Botchorishvili expressed appreciation for the ongoing support from the WTO and extended an invitation for Secretary-General Okonjo-Iweala to visit Georgia.
