
“Georgia represents the most important link of the southern gas corridor. The project started 10 years ago and today it plays a very important role in terms of supplying Europe with gas, as well as for Europe's energy security Georgia makes an important contribution to,” - the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili said.
Levan Davitashvili took part in the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council 10th Ministerial Meeting in Baku today.
At the ministerial meeting, the representatives of the governments of the countries participating in the Southern Gas Corridor, as well as the European Commissioner for Energy Affairs, Kadri Simson, discussed the current key issues of the project and the future vision and plans of its development. Levan Davitashvili gave a speech at the ministerial session.
The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili has emphasized the fact that ,,the most important highways of the Southern Gas Corridor pass through Georgia, and gas supply from the Caspian Sea could not happen without the active participation and involvement of Georgia."
As per Levan Davitashvili, the current meeting in Baku is also useful for Georgia in the sense that it is a good opportunity to discuss the energy security with its partner countries and further plans for cooperation in this regard.
