The Ministry of Culture of Georgia has officially established the Tbilisi International Opera Festival, marking a major step toward revitalizing the country’s renowned operatic tradition and strengthening its global cultural presence.
A memorandum of cooperation was signed at the Ministry by Minister of Culture Tinatin Rukhadze and Giorgi Andghuladze, a world-famous Georgian baritone who will head the festival.
Initiated by Minister Rukhadze, the annual festival aims to promote Georgian culture, enhance opera and theatrical arts, inspire the younger generation, and support the development of new talent in the field.
“The establishment of the Tbilisi International Opera Festival is of paramount importance for an artistic country with such great opera traditions as Georgia,” said Rukhadze. “I believe we can position Georgia as a major destination for opera lovers around the world, raise the profile of Georgian opera, and elevate it to a new global level.”
The festival will feature performances by world-renowned opera artists and include master classes, exchange programs, and internship opportunities for Georgian students in leading opera houses worldwide.
This initiative not only celebrates Georgia’s rich operatic heritage but also seeks to ensure its vibrant future by creating opportunities for young artists and fostering international collaboration.
