"Georgia is part of all important international decisions and is fulfilling it responsibly," - Levan Davitashvili, the Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, stated about it at the webinar of the joint project GeoCase and Commersant – Commersant’s Research Initiative - led by Giorgi Abashishvili, an economics researcher at the Geocase think tank.
"If Georgia imposes an individual sanction, it may have reverse consequences and our damage may be greater than that of the sanctioned in terms of the sanction," - Levan Davitashvili noted.
Davitashvili also spoke about the dependence of Georgia the economies of the countries in the region:
"The processes taking place in the economies of [these countries] directly affect Georgia. Russia and Ukraine are Georgia's key trading partners, these two countries are at war, and our corresponding expectation from this war was that these hostilities might have a significant impact on Georgia's foreign exchange inflows and revenues, both in terms of direct transfers, continuous revenues, tourism and investment revenues, therefore, we focused on maximizing the use of internal resources in order to reduce the effects of this war on the economy and maintain our economic growth,” – the Minister said.
The Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili, the Minister of Finance of Georgia, Lasha Khutsishvili and the Chairman of the think tank organization Geocase, Victor Kipiani attended the webinar initiated by Giorgi Abashishvili.
