Georgia had a strong presence at the UNESCO General Assembly in Samarkand, focusing on the promotion of Georgian culture and heritage, Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili announced.
According to Botchorishvili, several events during the assembly were dedicated to Georgian cultural monuments recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites.
“Georgian song, polyphony, and winemaking traditions were all showcased at the UNESCO conference in Samarkand. Georgia’s cultural presence was strong and well-received. We also discussed key topics that could shape our future cooperation within UNESCO. It is important that the organization’s activities continue to promote peace and global cooperation. For Georgia, UNESCO’s work on cultural heritage protection and education remains a top priority,” Botchorishvili stated.
The Foreign Minister also highlighted a series of bilateral meetings held on the sidelines of the assembly.
“International gatherings such as this provide an excellent opportunity to meet with colleagues from various countries. I held meetings with the Foreign Ministers of Hungary, Azerbaijan, and the host country, as well as representatives from other regional states. These discussions helped us outline future directions for Georgia’s cooperation with our partners,” she added.
