
In January-February 2023, the trade turnover between Georgia and the EU member states increased slightly by 7.6% and amounted to 590 million 760 thousand dollars. Thus, the EU took a 20.3% share in Georgia's trade turnover.
In the first two months of 2023, the share of the European Union in Georgia's exports almost halved. According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), in January-February, exports to the EU amounted to $115.8 million, which is only 12.6% of the total exports. Whereas in the same period last year, goods (20.9%) worth $59 million were exported from the country to the European Union.
It should also be noted that only two EU countries - Bulgaria ($34.6 million) and Spain ($20 million) weer included in the top ten export countries of Georgia this year. The remaining positions were mainly taken by post-Soviet countries.
As for the import rate, a total of $474 million 960 thousand was spent in January-February to purchase various types of goods from the EU countries, which is 21.8% higher than the import of the same period last year. 23.9% of the total goods worth nearly $2 billion were imported from the EU countries.
