The 2025 FIE Fencing World Championships concluded in Tbilisi on July 30, marking Georgia’s first time hosting the prestigious Olympic disciplines event. Held at Tbilisi Arena, the championship brought together 1,205 fencers from 120 countries and welcomed around 3,000 guests.
Georgian fencer Sandro Bazadze delivered a standout performance, defeating France’s Jean-Philippe Patrice in the epee final to win gold—his first world title after previously earning bronze and silver.
Merab Bazadze, President of the Georgian Fencing Federation, praised the high-level organization of the event, noting the positive feedback from international guests and the recognition received from the FIE.
Looking ahead, Tbilisi is set to host the European Championship in 2026, as well as the Veterans' World Championship this fall, further cementing Georgia’s rising status in the international fencing community.
