In January-June 2024, Georgia paid 39.6 million US dollars for chocolate imports, which is 15.5% more than the figure of the same period last year, when the country bought the product worth 34.2 million US dollars.
Russia has the largest share in imports with 30.8%.
TOP-10 importing countries are as follows:
Russia - $12.2 million for 3,963 tons;
Ukraine - $5.9 million for 1,419 tons;
Turkey - $5.1 million for 1,031 tons;
Belgium - $2.7 million for 569 tons;
Poland - $2.6 million for 578 tons;
Croatia - $2.1 million for 443 tons;
Germany - $1.7 million for 357 tons;
The Netherlands - $1.4 million for 252 tons;
Italy - $1.2 million for 345 tons;
Armenia - 184 tons for $1.1 million.
As for the local exports, 238 tons of chocolate worth 1.1 million USD have been exported this year, and 185 tons worth 695 thousand USD - in the same period of 2023.
Also, in 6 months, 781 tons of chocolate was reexported, which amounted to $4.5 mln..
