
Georgia assumed the presidency of the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly following a remote meeting of GUAM member states’ MPs, as announced by the parliament’s press office.
Tornike Cheishvili, First Deputy Chair of the Legal Issues Committee, highlighted that closer sector cooperation among GUAM states will help identify common advantages and strengthen bilateral relations. He emphasized prioritizing dialogue, knowledge exchange, and new projects. Cheishvili also noted the region's potential in trade, communications, energy, and transportation, where national parliaments can play a key role. He addressed the rising challenges threatening the security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of GUAM countries, stressing the importance of maintaining regional peace and outlining Georgia's current priorities.
The session concluded with the adoption of the final document, the Communique. Georgia takes over the GUAM presidency from Azerbaijan for a one-year term.
