
Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili met with her Uzbek counterpart, Bakhtiyor Saidov, during his first official visit to Tbilisi, marking a significant step in deepening bilateral relations.
According to the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two ministers praised the growing partnership between Georgia and Uzbekistan, noting that recent high-level visits have played a key role in strengthening ties.
Special focus was placed on enhancing trade and economic cooperation, particularly through joint efforts to develop the Middle Corridor—a strategic route linking East and West. The ministers also commended the work of the Georgia-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
They emphasized the importance of deepening ties in culture, education, science, tourism, and sports, and highlighted the essential role of parliamentary collaboration. Georgia also briefed Uzbekistan on the ongoing challenges in its Russian-occupied territories.
Regional security and the need to maintain peace and stability were also discussed. The meeting concluded with the signing of a cooperation program between the foreign ministries for 2025–2026.
During his visit, Minister Saidov is also scheduled to meet with Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, Economy Minister Mariam Kvrlivishvili, and Education Minister Givi Mikanadze.
