Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Inga Pkhaladze met with Tommy Joyce, Acting Assistant Secretary for the Office of International Affairs at the U.S. Department of Energy, the Ministry of Economy reported.
The meeting took place in Athens, Greece, on the sidelines of the 6th Ministerial of the Partnership for Transatlantic Energy Cooperation (P-TEC). Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between Georgia and the United States to strengthen both regional and global energy security.
Deputy Minister Pkhaladze presented an overview of recent progress in Georgia’s energy sector, highlighting key infrastructure projects and other strategic developments.
According to the Ministry, particular emphasis was placed on energy security in light of ongoing developments across Eurasia. Both sides underscored Georgia’s role as a reliable partner in regional energy initiatives and as a vital transit hub for South Caucasus energy resources—such as oil and gas—en route to European Union markets.
The participants also highlighted the advancement of the Green Energy Corridor, with Georgia serving as a key contributor to this strategic project.
“We are actively involved in developing the Green Energy Corridor, which will strengthen energy security for both Europe and the South Caucasus region,” said Deputy Minister Pkhaladze.
The meeting concluded with discussions on opportunities to introduce innovative energy technologies and further enhance Georgia’s energy infrastructure.
