
The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, met with the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Numan Kurtulmuş, during his official visit to Türkiye, according to a statement from the Georgian Parliament.
The meeting underscored the significant progress made in bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Georgia and Türkiye, especially in political and economic areas. Both sides emphasized the continued frequency of high-level visits as a reflection of their strong partnership.
Speaker Papuashvili expressed his appreciation for Türkiye’s consistent support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and its non-recognition policy. The two leaders discussed the growing momentum in interparliamentary relations and reiterated their commitment to deepening ties. In this context, they highlighted the vital role of parliamentary friendship groups.
The discussion also focused on expanding trilateral parliamentary cooperation with Azerbaijan, with both parties confirming that a meeting among the Speakers of the Parliaments of Georgia, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan is being planned. Broader regional and global developments were addressed, reaffirming both countries’ shared commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region.
Strategic initiatives, including energy and transport connectivity, were also on the agenda. The two sides reiterated their willingness to work closely to advance projects that enhance the Middle Corridor's potential as a key transit route.
Speaker Papuashvili extended an official invitation to his Turkish counterpart to visit Georgia, and the meeting concluded with a joint press conference.
