At the Georgia-Turkiye Business Forum in Tbilisi, Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili emphasized the strong partnership between Georgia and Turkiye, noting that bilateral trade surpassed $3 billion in 2024, reflecting deep economic integration.
The forum, co-opened by Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat, saw participation from nearly 80 Turkish and over 160 Georgian companies—highlighting strong business interest on both sides.
Kvrivishvili presented Georgia’s economic progress, citing 9.4% growth in 2024 and 8.8% average growth from January to May 2025. She underlined the government's focus on private sector support, transport and energy development, and attracting foreign investment.
She highlighted major infrastructure projects like the East-West Highway, Anaklia Port, Tbilisi’s new airport, the Black Sea energy cable, and the nearing completion of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway. Cooperation in transport and logistics—especially within the Middle Corridor—was noted as key.
Turkiye’s role as a major investor was also stressed, with over 2,700 Turkish-funded companies operating in Georgia and more than $150 million invested in the energy sector alone over the past five years.
The visit concluded with the signing of a joint committee decision to update the Georgia-Turkiye Free Trade Agreement, adopting the revised PEM rules of origin.
