Mariam Kvrivishvili met with Singapore’s Minister of Transport, Jeffrey Siow, on the sidelines of the UN International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Assembly in London, the Ministry of Economy announced.
According to the ministry, the officials reviewed opportunities for deepening cooperation across the transport sector, including maritime connectivity. Deputy Minister Tamar Ioseliani also took part in the meeting.
Talks focused on strengthening regional connectivity and identifying new areas for collaboration. Kvrivishvili emphasised the strategic importance of the Middle Corridor for trade and economic integration, outlining Georgia’s role and progress in developing this vital route.
“We had an interesting meeting with the Minister of Transport of Singapore. We discussed cooperation opportunities in the transport field, including civil aviation, and the possibility of direct flights between Georgia and Singapore. I am pleased that both sides are ready to work together in other important areas as well—such as transport logistics, port management, digitalisation of the maritime sector, and security systems,” Kvrivishvili stated.
She also highlighted major Georgian infrastructure projects, including the Anaklia Deepwater Port, the planned Vaziani International Airport, and the country’s ongoing railway modernisation. According to the ministry, the development of modern transport and logistics infrastructure will further bolster trade and economic ties between Georgia and Singapore.
